Must-Have Beauty Product: Tatcha Beauty Papers

ProductTatcha Petal Fresh Original Aburatorigami Japanese Blotting Papers
Price: $12 / 30 Sheets Each Size 3.74 " x 3.74 "
Ingredients: 100% abaca leaf, gold flake Made Without: mineral oil, synthetic color, fragrance, powder or pulp
What it is: " All- natural leaflets which absorb excess oil without disturbing makeup for petal fresh skin anytime, anywhere"
How it is different: Will not steal moisture from the skin or disturb makeup. Powder-free. Fragrance-free. Pulp-free.
How to use: Pat a single leaflet on face, starting with T-Zone. Both sides can be used.

For those who have never used blotting papers before, I highly recommend giving them a try. Perfect for when you are out and do not have access to a face cleanser and water, blotting papers remove excess oils and leave your skin shine-free. You do not have to use powders and excess products, and they are also perfect for keeping your skin fresh without having to touch up your make up.
Tatcha beauty papers are unique because they are made in Japan with 100% abaca leaf with specks of gold flakes in the paper. I think it is fantastic that they are also 100% biodegradable and natural. The size of the beauty papers are slightly larger than the other blotting papers I have used in the past and it covers more surface area. They are terrific because they are powder free and scent free and the papers themselves are thin and dainty. They do the job well leaving skin fresh, and absorbing oil while keeping make up in place. In addition, these beauty papers do not dry out your skin and leave you feeling fresh and comfortable.
All of Tatcha's products are in such beautiful packaging, and Tatcha beauty papers are the perfect beauty product to use no matter where you are.

About the product : "TATCHA beauty papers were originally created by gold craftsmen to protect the precious metal they hammered into whisper-thin leafing to enrobe the majestic pavilions of Imperial Japan. Their gold-leaf artistry transformed the supporting paper into aburatorigami, an incredibly soft, strong and absorbent leaflet ideal for removing excess oils from delicate skin. How our geisha discovered that this precious by-product of the artisan’s alchemy could help create a perfect canvas for her makeup and keep her skin petal-fresh throughout the night remains a mystery. But the benefits of her ancient beauty secret remain unsurpassed to this day."

Elizabeth Knight Jewelry

Sarah Velasco: Can you tell us more about yourself? What is your role at Elizabeth Knight Jewelry?

Elizabeth Thompson: I’ll start with the second question; I’m the sole proprietor and designer of the collection. I grew up in Philidelphia and went to school at Savannah College of Art and Design before moving to New York and establishing FluxWork, a shared artisan studio, and my own line Elizabeth Knight Jewelry.

Sarah Velasco: How did you get into the industry?

Elizabeth Thompson: I always loved working with my hands and like the idea of making something small and personal which is why I was drawn to jewelry. I studied at SCAD majoring in jewelry with an emphasis on silver-smithing.

Sarah Velasco: Can you tell us about the brand? The products?

Elizabeth Thompson: The line has always been inspired by nature whether it be literal like my ground and water collection where I would source animal bones and cast them or like more recent collections that have been inspired by human nature and ancient civilizations.

Sarah Velasco: Have there been any major changes since the company started? Are you anticipating any changes in the future?

Elizabeth Thompson: The brand has certainly grown over the past five seasons. I’ve started to hire people to help me from production to marketing. It is a huge change and it really makes me excited to put together a team of people that help grow the company. As for changes I expect in the future, I’m just looking forward to sharing my work with a wider audience.

Sarah Velasco: Can you tell us what you think your three most popular items for spring will be?

Elizabeth Thompson: My three picks are the stacked V necklace, it is a great statement pieces that adds a lot of texture and movement. I love the small spike earrings because they are really wearable and I think any girl could work into their jewelry box especially since they’re super affordable and the blade ring, it is a really unique shape and I think rings are becoming more and more popular.

Sarah Velasco: Any trends we will see at Elizabeth Knight Jewelry?

Elizabeth Thompson: As I mentioned I’ve recently been drawn to ancient civilizations for inspiration; in particular my new Fall/Winter 2012 collection was inspired by Greek Mythology. I love the geometrics and the animals referenced in the stories. It takes my love of nature and form and gives me a lot to work with. I plan to contune to add to that collection for SS13. In terms of materials I’m also really excited to be adding stones into the line.

Sarah Velasco: What type of audience does the brand target?

Elizabeth Thompson: Empowered women. I love a girl who is confident in a statement piece who can appreciate the balance between strong and beautiful.

Sarah Velasco: Where can readers purchase the items?

Elizabeth Thompson: You can check out my website www.elizabethknightjewelry.com to buy pieces or find a list of store if you prefer to see them in person.

The Crystal Bra interview with Mister Fox

Sarah Velasco: Can you tell readers about the brand? How did The Crystal Bra start?

Mister Fox: The Crystal Bra is a design by FACTORY FOX, a creative collective and blog lead by Mister Fox and Barbara V based on fashion, art, and music. Our goal was to create a bra that is so beautiful and shiny, that it would glamorize your whole outfit by putting it on. That became The Crystal Bra.

Sarah Velasco: Can you tell us about yourself? What is your role at The Crystal Bra?
Mister Fox: My name is Mister Fox and I’m a designer, singer, and generally my purpose in life is to inspire and entertain people. I’m incredibly proud of this bra and I never could’ve dreamed that so many people around the world would glamorize their life with our bra. It’s great!

Sarah Velasco: How are the bras made? What makes them unique?
Mister Fox: The Crystal Bra is handmade with much love and dedication in our atelier in Antwerp. The bra is so unique because it’s a timeless statement bra that instantly adds glamour to your whole outfit without being too obvious.

Sarah Velasco: Are there just the two types? (The Silver and Black)
Mister Fox: Yes, that’s correct. Currently, we have the silver and black Crystal Bras in our assortment, with more colors, bras and additional features to come in the future. How fabulous would it be if you could build a whole collection of glitter bras throughout your life?!

Sarah Velasco: Can you let readers know how to care for this bra?
Mister Fox: Every bra is delivered with an extra pouch of ‘crystals’ and sequins, so that if there happens anything unexpected, it can always be repaired. We advise to hand wash of steam the bra to maintain the best quality.

Sarah Velasco: Any tips on how to style The Crystal Bra?
Mister Fox: There are plenty ways to style it! You can create a stunning outfit with your Crystal Bra and a transparent blouse, which is super trendy, or create a more covering outfit with a basic top and a low collar. Also, for the summer and to go out it’s very nice to cut out the left and right side of a T-shirt so that you have a very classy and cool show off.

Sarah Velasco: Where can readers purchase the bra?
Mister Fox: The Crystal Bra is exclusively available through the website we created for it: www.TheCrystalBra.com. We offer worldwide shipping for free and if your bra doesn’t fit, you can always exchange into the right size for free.

Sarah Velasco: Are there any up and coming things happening that readers should look forward to or know about?
Mister Fox: We are always developing new products and techniques to invent ourselves. To get updated and find out the inside details on all of this, like our Facebook page:

Must-Have Monokini for Summer 2012

One of the summer swim suit trends this year is of course the monokini. The monokini is essentially a one-piece cut-out swimsuit.

Monokinis are such great pieces because they are in between a one piece and a bikini. This style gives you the best of both worlds!

I was so excited that Garage came out with monokinis this season. Finding affordable and chic swimwear is hard to come by and Garage has made such fun beachwear for the summer.

What: Striped Triangle Monokini courtesy of: Garage
Price: $36.90
Sizes: XS - L
Material: Shell. 88% Nylon, 12 % Spandez. Lining 95% Nylon 5% Spandex
Directions: Hand Wash Cold

"Turning up the heat in stripes! Look sexy and cool in a striped triangle monokini. It features a fun uneven striped pattern, lightly padded triangle bust, soft stretch nylon, fully lined"

The tricky thing about a one piece (monokinis included) is the size. Unlike bikinis, you can't get two different sizes for the top and bottom.
However, Garage has managed to create a product that fits extremely well head to toe. The whole swimsuit is figure flattering and easily adjustable with well positioned, adjustable ties.

Unlike many other one- pieces I have owned or tried in the past, this suit is feminine, trendy, and fun at the same time! Adorable and effortlessly chic, this swimsuit is also very comfortable, well lined, and manages to stay in place. The ties bring you together without making you feel like there is no support and there is much adjustability so you can tighten it or loosen it if need be. It is also very flattering on your waistline and the stripes and multiple colors add a fun, playful touch.

This suit is perfect during the day and will look great paired with shorts and flip flops after lounging by the beach at night.

This is a must-have swimsuit for this summer!

Interview with Designer Adrian Wu

Sarah Velasco: Can you tell us about yourself?
Adrian Wu: I'm a 21 year old Chinese Canadian boy. Grew up in Burlington Ontario. Went to a private school since I was 3 and wore Uniform. My mother's name is Jean and my Father is Paul and my sister is Carolyn. My parents are from Hong Kong and I was born here.

Sarah Velasco: How did you become a designer?
Adrian Wu: I taught myself how to sew at age 18 and created a portfolio on a website. By doing so I was discovered on the internet to do a show at Vancouver Fashion Week and I was asked on the same day to be a correspondent on Much Music.

Sarah Velasco: How would you describe your designs?
Adrian Wu: I would describe my designs are simple is design and complicated in technique. Sometimes artistic and sometimes extremely wearable. My designs range from simple to extravagant. I like to use upholstery in my work most of the time and I invented my own way of sewing by creating a minimalist bodice.

Sarah Velasco: How has your style evolved since you started? How has it stayed the same?
Adrian Wu: I think my style has evolved as a designer over the past few years by the difficulty of the design. I think I started out with a great idea and I have used my artistic side to push the boundaries on the basis of asking "what is fashion?"

Sarah Velasco: Personally speaking, what is your most memorable moment in your career thus far?
Adrian Wu: I think the most memorable is when I got a call from Fashion Television to do my first profile. I was in shock because I had dreamt about being on that show mainly because I grew up watching it. Being on it regularly makes me feel like I'm actually influencing the next generation.

Sarah Velasco:If you could design a piece for one person in the past or present who would it be and why?
Adrian Wu: Madonna. I hear amazing stories of her launching the careers of designers and it would be amazing one day to be a part of history and create a gown for her.

Sarah Velasco: Who are your icons? Influences?
Adrian Wu: Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, TED TALKS, Plato, Socrates, Sigmund Freud, Alfred Kinsey, My mother.

Sarah Velasco: Where do you get your inspiration from?
Adrian Wu: Everyday people and the people who are in my life. I think my collection every season tend to manifest from the current events that are happening in my life - they be emotionally, physically, I think the people that surround me and help make me who I am are the people that inspire me.

Sarah Velasco: Can you tell us about your latest collection? What is the story and inspiration behind it?
Adrian Wu: I don't want to get too much into it. I think my collections are beginning to be something less tangible for people to understand. I create my clothes and my collections with context and I think its up to your interpretation.

Sarah Velasco: Can you give readers some tips on what trends and colors we will see for summer?
Adrian Wu: Mint? Cause I saw Lady Gaga's music video and she mentioned something about that. You have to understand that most of these so called 'trends' you see. It's subjective. It's a business and a designers' job is to create clothes for the consumer and the magazines and editors to determine the trends.

Sarah Velasco: What can we look forward to seeing in your next collection?
Adrian Wu: I wish I knew myself. Just keep up with me on twitter 'soimadrian' and maybe you'll find out.

Sarah Velasco: Any advice you could give for hopeful designers?
Adrian Wu: Save your money until you know it’s worth spending. This business is about making money and to make money you have to spend it. Fashion is far from what you think it is, it's about the product.

LUSH No Drought Dry Shampoo & Ro's Argan Body Conditioner

Two incredible products to try courtesy of: LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics

What: 'No Drought' Dry Shampoo
Price: 4.6 oz (130 g)/ $12.95
Directions: "Massage sparingly into your scalp and through your hair, then shake it out (if you've got long hair, you might need a quick brush to make sure you're fully covered)."
Ingredients: Corn Oil, Magnesium Carbonate, Talc, Perfume, Grapefruit Oil, Lime Oil, Citral Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool

Finally, after many customer and employee requests, at long last a dry shampoo! No Drought gives your hair an extra day without washing. Just massage it sparingly into your scalp and through your hair, and then shake it out (if you've got long hair, you might need a quick brush to make sure you're covered). Corn flour and talc absorb excess oil and leave locks soft to the touch. Lemon, grapefruit and lime oils will give your hair a fresh and fruity fragrance too. No need to wash; just go!"
No Drought Dry Shampoo by Lush Cosmetics is a must-have item to have when you don't have time or cannot wash your hair. This product temporarily refreshes your hair, keeps you feeling fresh, and gives you the ability to wash your hair wherever you go. A perfect product to carry around when you are camping!
The scent is so delicious smelling and reminded me of Lush's amazing Pow Wow Lip Scrub (I don’t think they have it anymore and hope they bring it back!).
As for application, this dry shampoo is perfectly straightforward to use. Dispense a very sparing amount on your hands or hair, and massage, rub or disperse the product with your hands or a hair brush. I also find that a big make-up brush is great for applying this product. With the makeup brush, you can swirl around the dry shampoo with it to prevent overly applying the product in your hair. I would recommend  using a bit of the product at a time, letting it absorb before deciding to use more.
No other appliances are necessary.
Because the product is white powder product, it will blend more easily with lighter hair colors. However, having black hair there have been no issues with blending the product into my hair. You cannot tell there was any product applied and the product itself absorbs quickly and effectively.
End results: I notice this product gives hair more body. It is the perfect product to use if you cannot wash your hair.

What: Ro's Argan Body Conditioner
Price: 8.4 oz (240 g)/ $29.95
DirectionsWash up with your favorite soap or shower gel and rinse off in the bath or shower. Smooth on the Body Conditioner over your wet body. Rinse and lightly towel yourself dry.
Ingredients: Fresh Spring Water, Glycerine, Almond Oil, Cypress Leaf Infusion, Brazil Nut Oil, Vanilla Pod, Fair Trade Shea Butter, Stearic Acid, Argan Oil, Capuacu Butter, Perfume, Triethanolamine, Cocoa Butter, Goji Berry Decoction, Rose Absolute, Geranium Oil, Lemon Oil, Limonene, Cetaryl Alcohol, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Methlyparaben, Propylparaben

LUSH product inventor Rowena made this decadent, rose-scented shower ‘lotion' – so it's Ro's Argan Body Conditioner which very conveniently sounds like Rose Argan Body Conditioner. She noticed how much she liked the sultry soft feeling conditioner gives her hair, so she thought how nice it would be if she could have the same feeling for the body too. With scoops of cocoa butter, cupuacu butter, almond oil and Argan oils, this is the most luxurious body softener that ever was (if we don't say so ourselves!). After washing up, slather yourself all over with this new invention. Rinse, pat dry and revel in supremely soft, rose-scented skin."

This product is the best moisturizing shower product I have ever tried. It leaves your skin feeling soft and keeps your skin smooth even if you skip the lotion after your shower.
If cold weather makes your skin extremely dry, this product will keep your skin nourished the whole winter season. It is also great for sensitive skin and leaves you with a fresh rose scent.
Ro's Argan Body Conditioner is a fantastic product that will work wonders for your skin. It leaves your skin feeling so soft long after application and I highly recommend this product. Its incredible moisturizing qualities make it one of my favorite and must-have products!
