Interview with Charlie Jenkins, Goody Good Stuff

Sarah Velasco: Can you tell us about yourself? How did you get started?
Charlie Jenkins: I’m Charlie, Goody Good Stuff’s Marketing Manager, I’m 24 and live near Manchester in the UK. After graduating last year I was offered an exciting opportunity to work with Goody Good Stuff and I have never looked back since. The most important part of my role is digital marketing and digital consumer relations which is why we find social platforms (Twitter and Facebook) and blogger communication such a highly important part of the business.

Sarah Velasco: Can you tell readers about Goody Good Stuff? How did that begin?

Charlie Jenkins: Goody Good Stuff was launched in 2010 by now Managing Director, Melissa Burton. Melissa had a passion for all things natural and vegetarian and was disappointed to learn about the lack of veggie and allergy friendly gummy candy on the market. Using food technology that took 10 years to perfect Melissa created a gummy sweet that was not only free from gelatin, artificial colors, artificial flavors and gluten but tasted great too – Goody Good Stuff was born!

Sarah Velasco: What types of products do you carry?
Charlie Jenkins: We have two types of product – a smooth gummy sweet range and a tangy/sour range both available in 3.50z packs. We are also working on a SUPER sour range and seasonal ranges. These will be made available in mini on-the-go packs and bigger sharing packs.

Sarah Velasco: What flavors do you have?
Charlie Jenkins: Our ‘smoothies’ range: Strawberry Cream, Cherry Cherries, Tropical Fruit and Koala Gummy Bears. Our ‘tangy’ range: Cola Breeze, Sour Fruit Salad, Sour Mix Match and Summer Peaches. Our new SUPER sours will be available in Cheery Cherry and Koala Gummy Bear flavors.

Sarah Velasco: What ingredients do traditional gummy sweets use? Why is Goody Good Stuff ingredients better?
Charlie Jenkins: Whereas other traditional gummy sweets use gelatin (made from the by products of animals), Goody Good Stuff uses a vegan and vegetarian friendly gel that is made using exact of lilypad and other plants. Many other candies also use artificial colors and flavors, but here at Goody Good Stuff we only use good natural ingredients. We use such ingredients as spinach, cherry, lemon, orange, kiwi and apple to color and flavour the gummies.

Sarah Velasco: What is your best seller?
Charlie Jenkins: Our best sellers actually vary from month to month but the staff’s firm favourites are Strawberry Cream and Cola Breeze flavors.
